A new official The Last of Us poster featuring Joel has been released for Outbreak Day 2018, and it may just give us Joel’s best look yet in the upcoming The Last of Us Part 2.
Revealed on the official The Last of Us website, the poster depicts Joel seated in what appears to be a wooded area, strumming an acoustic guitar next to a wolf. Enemies in the latest gameplay demonstration of The Last of Us Part 2 called Ellie “The Wolf,” hinting that this beast represents the sequel’s protagonist.
Though his eyes are hidden, sporting what looks like a new haircut, Joel appears to be about the same age as in the original game, though the sequel takes place a few years later. Ellie’s arm tattoo in the sequel shows a moth, a few of which can be seen flying around in the new poster (though they could just be butterflies). Sony has yet to confirm if this is indeed Joel’s new look in The Last of Us Part 2.
Release Date leak?
The release date of The Last of Us Part 2 might have been accidentally leaked by Naughty Dog thanks to the unveiling of a PlayStation soundtrack release.
This year’s Outbreak Day saw part of a new soundtrack based on the game announced by Naughty Dog – and it shows a copyright date fixed to 2019.
“Music from The Last of Us Part II (2019) published by Sony Interactive Entertainment,” it reads.
This has led fans to believe that’s sort-of a sure confirmation for a 2019 release date.
THE LAST OF US PART 2 – Details
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Developer: Naughty Dog
The Last of Us Part 2 is an upcoming sequel to Naughty Dog’s critically and commercially acclaimed, The Last of Us, which released in 2013 for PS3.
The sequel will contain elements of action-adventure and survival horror, quite similar in tone to its predecessor. It will start off from where the events of the first game left off and will feature the return of the protagonists, Ellie and Joel, five years after the events of The Last of Us.
The game has received several awards, despite having only existed since 2014. The PlayStation Blog has already bestowed the game with the ‘Most Anticipated Game of the Year’ award, and the title has also received an award for ‘Most Wanted’ by the Golden Joysticks.
The game was initially announced in December 2016 at the PlayStation Experience event.
The game is also a PS4 exclusive (surely with enhancements for PS4 Pro players) and will likely test the boundaries of what the PS4 architecture can achieve.
