Another day, another leak in the world of tech. This time we could be getting a first look at Apple’s iPad Pro 2018, thanks to leaked images online.
The leak exposed by Steve Hemmerstoffer (Onleaks) on Twitter, reveals a major design up haul is to be expected in the next-generation iPad Pro 2018.
The very first noticeable change that catches the eye in the leaked computer renders, show that the original design has been significantly altered. The soft edges of the device’s rounded chassis have been redesigned to feature chamfered edges. An angular case was also visible along with breaks along the outline.
Other prominent features of the device shown in the renders include a 12.9-inch screen with slim-bezel display and two speakers around the lightning port at the bottom of the design. A TrueDepth camera system placed in the iPad Pro’s bezel along with two microphone ports is also visible on top.
The home button has disappeared to make more room for the screen. As for the positioning of the buttons, it seems no changes have been made in that regard. Also the iPad’s headphone jack looks to be obsolete now.
However, the Smart Connector has been placed above the Lightning instead of the rear like before. According to speculation by MySmartPrice the replacement is done possibly to accommodate Face ID. The new connector will apparently support new accessories beyond the regular keyboard, though the rumors didn’t mention what other additions are to be expected.
Other rumors that we know so far about the iPad Pro 2018:
According to the previous speculations, the redesigned devices might also be equipped with a next-generation Apple Pencil that connects when in close proximity to an iPad.
9to5Mac, reported earlier that the devices will ditch the home button in favor of Face ID. The bigger tablets will combine Apple’s TrueDepth camera system in its bezel instead of carrying over the “notch” aesthetic which was introduced with iPhone X. We now know this rumor could be a possibility for sure because of the leaked render.
The new tablets will apparently be supporting 4K HDR output to TVs and external monitors over an integrated USB-C port. A new panel in the Settings menu will provide control over brightness, resolution and HDR options, the report says. Previous rumors have also suggested that Apple intends to replace Lightning with USB-C as it aims to support higher bandwidth applications.
Reliable sources also confirmed this year’s model identifiers as “iPad8,1,” “iPad8,2,” “iPad8,5” and “iPad8,6” for Wi-Fi only and “iPad8,1,” “iPad8,4,” “iPad8,7” and “iPad8,8″ for cellular-enabled versions. There could possibly be two different screen-sizes available for the display, with a Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi +
A second generation true wireless earbuds are also rumored to be in the works at Apple, with a longer battery life, hands-free ‘Hey Siri” option, and water resistance after a video surfaced in September. So we could be getting them along with the iPad Pro launch as well.
The authenticity of the renders remains to be seen as Hemmerstoffer himself put a disclaimer for the renders posting in a tweet, “I can’t confirm this one is 100% accurate.”
