Foldable phone technology seems to be the future of the industry. Being able to fold my phone like a handkerchief when putting it in my pocket will be quite the delight. Samsung seems to have been the pacesetters in this field when they showed us their prototype at the CES 2019. At the time the idea was still fresh so it was really amazing to see. Recently, they announced that they would release a Galaxy Fold really soon to prove it wasn’t all talk. Chinese based company Huawei has refused to be left behind. When are the Chinese ever behind? Those people are like bees. Huawei Mate X Foldable phone promises to be quite cutting-edge.
Reports say that Huawei’s implementation might surpass that of Samsung. We’ve heard rumors of a foldable iPhone X in the making, will it surpass that one too? Time will tell. Huawei is calling it the falcon wing design, the hinge opens up to become an 8-inch OLED tablet. When folded, we have a 6.6-inch OLED phone. With these dimensions the Huawei Mate X foldable phone is expected to be a bit bigger than the Galaxy fold. However, is this really a plus? I was chatting with my mum the other day and she happened to mention that she disliked big phones.
What is improved on the Huawei Mate X foldable phone?
The developers included a fingerprint sensor on the power button. This will help in securing the user’s data. In terms of battery they have also made a huge leap forward. They are claiming that the device can charge up to 85% in half an hour. If that’s not a record I don’t know what is.
The price of the device is however somewhat a disclaimer. With the Galaxy Fold expected to go for around $2000, we thought Huawei would try to be on the same wavelength. But the Huawei Mate X foldable phone will hit markets at $2600. Not a big difference but to some the figure is just impossible. Feel free to express your thoughts in the comments section below.
