The Huawei Mate 20 Pro was revealed this week and it’s safe to say it will provide some tough competition to its rivals: iPhone XS Max and Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
Here are the specs and features for the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro:
Huawei assured 46% faster and 178% more power-efficient GPU and delivered well on that promise. The overall performance peaks up to 37%. The new Mate 20 phone also has a CAT 21 LTE modem that can go as high as 1,732 Mbps. Additionally, the Mate 20 phone sports a 40 MP + 20 MP B/W + 8 MP tele setup. They also introduced a brand new 6.3-inch curved edge, OLED display with a 3120 x 1440 resolution.
With regards to the internal side of things, Huawei included their new Kirin 980 along with a minimum of 6GB of RAM. This can be enhanced with 128GB of non-expandable storage.
With the Kirin 980 processor, it is the first 7-nanometer chipset in an Android phone. This could potentially make it the most power-efficient Android phone available. The Mate 20 Pro also sports triple rear cameras and wireless charging.
Now let’s see how the 3 biggest phone releases in the market fare against each other.
Huawei mate 20 Pro VS iPhone XS Max VS Samsung Galaxy Note 9
The 3 competitors have a screen size of about 6.5 inches and feature OLED display. Thus all of them providing the best vibrancy and color intensity. The curved OLED display of the phone is highly reminiscent of the one seen on the Galaxy Note 9, while the notch is similar to the one on the iPhone XS Max. Among the three, the Galaxy Note 9 is the only one that avoids the notch.
The other two feature a small cut-out for the front-facing camera whereas Samsung’s display is a plain rectangle.
The Mate 20 Pro however, is the only one that has incorporated a fingerprint sensor built into the screen of the phone itself.
The Huawei Mate 20 Pro boasts an impressive three rear-facing camera, co-developed in partnership with Leica. The iPhone XS and Note 9 include only two camera lenses on the back, a wide-angle and one telephoto.
All three have specifications that can almost rival a laptop features.
Samsung and Mate 20 Pro both run on Google’s Android, 8.0 and 9.0 respectively. Which performs more efficiently than Apple’s iOS 12. Huawei runs its own EMUI 9.0 skin over Android 9.0, which is a stark difference to Samsung’s version of Android however.
Safe to say, the three contenders can handle any app downloaded.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the only one not to feature a 7nm processor. But it makes up for it by having a higher RAM and storage expansion via microSD cards.
