How To Combine PDF Files On Windows And Mac

It could be frustrating to see a dozen of different PDF files in your email. Maybe the person who sent you all those files had no clue how to combine PDF files into a single streamlined file. But you don’t have to be a clueless jerk like them. The next time you are about to send out a bunch of PDF files to your clients or colleagues, remember that you can easily combine and arrange all the files into a single document. Here’s how to do it:

Combine PDF files on Windows computers

You need to have Adobe’s Acrobat Pro DC subscription to be able to combine and merge files. If you don’t want to pay for the subscription, you can use the free trial version to get the job done. If you don’t have the Acrobat Pro DC, head over to this link to download and install it. After installing, follow these steps:

  • Launch Acrobat, click on the Tools menu in the top-left corner and then select the Combine Files button

  • After clicking Combine Files, click Add Files and select the files you want to combine. You can include even the non-PDF files
  • Drag and drop files and pages to rearrange them. Use the Delete key to remove the unnecessary content
  • Now click Combine and then the Save button to save the new file. You can select the file name and location while saving it

On Macs

Apple has made combining PDF files incredibly easy on Mac computers. Follow these steps:

  • Open Finder on the Mac and select all the files you want to combine
  • Once you select the files, you’ll see a preview of all the files with a Create PDF button at the bottom
  • Click on the Create PDF button to combine the files you selected
  • Click Preview to open the new file you just created. You can rearrange pages by dragging and dropping thumbnails on the left side of the screen
  • Rename the file before sending it to your contacts

There are also a number of web-based tools that let you quickly combine PDF files. You don’t have to install them on your computer. Some of the most popular of them are PDF Joiner and PDFMerge. Just visit their website, select the files you want to merge, and then combine them.
