Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted the 2019 iPhone lineup that Apple will be releasing three iPhone models next year.
The analyst’s observation is based on projected market shares by Luxshare. However, It’s surprising to see an analyst weigh in on the lineup so soon and that too in the public domain. Most tech analysts are hesitant to share their speculations before any kind of official announcements.
So, Kuo predicted that Apple will be following the previous patterns in 2019 as well, which means a possibility of at least two 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch phones. Most probably with OLED displays as well as an LCD-based device with a 6.1-inch display could be a reality.
If the predictions turn out to be true, it will prove the same pattern as before was followed. Just like this year’s announcements with the three iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the upcoming iPhone XR. For those unfamiliar with iPhone, it’s the upcoming iPhone XR which will launch later this month with the 6.1-inch “Liquid Retina” display based on LCD display technology.
It would be a welcome change to see how the new Apple devices coming next year will be upgraded in terms of functionality and physical features. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max were the promised upgrades for this year but they didn’t exactly deliver in terms of a major up haul. They were just enough to whet the appetite of die-hard tech geeks.
They were also rumors back in 2017 that Apple invested $3 billion into LG Display to help it expand its screen-making infrastructure so that’s one more thing we can expect from future Apple devices.
What we would however love to see from the upcoming iPhone is a USB Type-C charging, perhaps a Samsung inspired stylus, an in-screen fingerprint scanning feature, a headphone jack, (highly unlikely, but one can hope) and a notch-free design.
So who knows what else is in store for Apple next year? Hopefully something much better.
